DIY Wedding Props (Part II)

Last week we posted about our first DIY wedding prop, Bride and Groom signs...This is the second prop we made, a tissue paper heart.

Here's what you'll need (again, most of this stuff I had around the house):
  • 1 Cereal Box
  • 1 Pair of Scissors
  • Elmer's Glue
  • Stapler
  • Pencil with an Eraser on the End
  • Tissue Paper

First, use the inside of your cereal box and make half of a heart.  Cut that half out, and trace around it onto the leftover cereal box again, and cut out the second half of the heart.  Make sure you leave some room between both halves so you can staple them together.

Once you have both sides, place them together and staple them.  This will secure them to make a whole heart, and it will also give you somewhere to grab onto when you hold it.

Next, cut your tissue paper into 1" x 2" rectangles.

Once you have those cut out, wrap them to the end of your pencil (on the eraser's end), and place a dot of Elmer's glue to the tip.

You'll then place that piece of tissue paper, with the glue on the end, onto the cardboard side of the cereal box until it's covered completely and you're ready to go!  Your tissue paper heart that kind of gives the illusion of carnation flowers.

This again makes an easy-to-make, inexpensive prop for your photoshoots...Here's Alma with her tissue paper heart from her Bride and Groom session :]
