Castro District

Next up from our vaca to San Fran is the Castro District, the most prominent gayborhood in the US :) I liked this part of town, it felt very alive and full of color. The first two shots below are of the Castro Theatre, a beautiful movie palace built in 1922.

Something you should know about San Francisco is that there is NO parking...If you rent a car (like we did), most hotels will charge you extra for parking per night.

Of course the Castro was home to Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician and Mayor of Casto Street. All over the area, you will see how the city has paid homage to him for his work in politics. Harvey Milk was killed in 1978.

This is outside the famous Castro Camera shop, which is currently empty.

Ok, I know these last two are a little racy, but I like collages.

  2. The theatre is really nice inside and you can tour it in between shows I think.
