Lunar Eclipse 2010

This evening, or rather, this morning, there was a total Lunar Eclipse, so we decided to stay up super late, because it ended at 4am approximately, so we could get a few shots. This was pretty much a once in a blue moon opportunity (pun intended), because the next Lunar Eclipse won't be until the year 2485.

What I found pretty amazing was the full moon at the beginning of the partial eclipse, the light given off in this first shot was nice and bright and made it easier to get a clear crisp photo. We shot this at 12:33 am.

These next two shots were tougher to get since the light wasn't as bright, so we played around a bit on the left shot...(these were shot at around 2:30 am).

A very cool thing is that the there were so many people from all over the world looking at the same thing since the same eclipse was seen worldwide, just in different time zones.

By the time I got this shot around 3:40 am, it was pretty cloudy, but a nice experience overall.

  1. I so wanted to see the eclipse but we had a giant cloud filled with snow in the way. So it is great to see your photos, they are fantastic.
