Photo Trip: Cobá

On our 3rd day in the Riviera Maya, we rented a car and drove to a few ruins.  The first ones we hit were in Cobá.  Cobá was actually pretty close to the ruins located in Tulum.  This was our first time to visit these ruins for the both of us.  When we arrived we saw the lake where the ruins are located with in pretty much the jungle.  There were a few shops around, a restaurant, but not much of anything else.  If you ever get to visit, wear comfy shoes, and definitely rent a bike, or take the bike taxi, otherwise, once arriving to the largest pyramid in the Yucatán Peninsula, you're going to be exhausted and might not want to climb it (I [Vanessa] speak from experience).  :D

I love how details like this skull are so well preserved for being built in the years 500-900 (approx.), it's unbelievable.

This skull was actually in the middle of the ground in the ball court.

The ball court.

The Nohoch Mul pyramid, the highest in the Yucatán Peninsula standing at approx. 138 ft.

Carlos at the top of the pyramid.  The view from up top is a 360° view of pure jungle.
